BRIEF
The property was a traditional three-bedroom terraced house that had previously been extended with two small rear additions and a lean-to structure. These spaces housed a cramped kitchen and utility room that lacked cohesion and was starved of natural light.
The client wanted us to transform the layout into a generous kitchen into the true heart of the home where she could cook with her grandchildren and enjoy time with family. She was also keen to ensure the adjacent dining area remained bright and inviting despite the new extension. so natural light and usability were top priorities for her.
Transform the kitchen/utility room and dining area into an open plan space that would be much brighter, more welcoming and allowed her to bake and enjoy family time with her grandchildren.

Before
The instruction was to transform the interior layout to create an open plan living space.

After
Solution
1.
We proposed a full reconfiguration of the rear of the house, removing the existing fragmented layout and replacing it with a single cohesive extension.
2.
To create an open and flowing space, we introduced structural steelwork that allowed us to remove internal walls and fully open up the rear of the property.
3.
The new layout was carefully designed to maximise natural light, with large glazed openings ensuring that both the kitchen and dining areas remained bright and connected.
4.
The kitchen was tailored for family life offering generous work surfaces and ample room for baking with grandchildren. High-quality finishes and fixtures were included within the budget, delivering a space that is both practical and beautifully finished.
