BRIEF
The client’s were looking to remove the current rear extension and replace it with a larger, modern single storey addition that would contrast with the traditional style of the house.
To enhance the view from the bedrooms the extension was to feature a green roof providing a better outlook.
They also wanted to add a separate garden room, something that can serve as a dedicated space for the children as they grow older and incorporate an aviary and a koi carp pond into the garden layout.
Inside the house the existing staircase was to be removed and replaced with a modern oak one instead to bring a more contemporary feel to the interior.
With a young family and an active lifestyle our clients wanted their home to evolve with them. They dreamed of a bright, open-plan kitchen where the family could cook, eat, and relax together, as well as dedicated areas that would grow with their children. Their existing layout would not provide this and they wanted to invest in a home that offered more connection to the outdoors space.

At the heart of the transformation is the replacement of an outdated extension with a stunning open-plan kitchen and dining space, designed to be bathed in natural light. Expansive bi-fold doors open directly onto the garden, while large glass windows to either side of the extension further enhance daylight and create a strong visual connection to the outdoors.

In keeping with the client’s desire for sustainability and a connection to nature the new extension features a sedum green roof. This living roof provides the aesthetic appeal to the home while also providing thermal insulation and supporting local wildlife.

In addition to the architectural upgrades inside, the rear garden was thoughtfully designed to include a custom garden room for the children, along with the client’s aviary and koi carp pond.

The original staircase has been replaced with a sleek oak design featuring glass side panels, adding a contemporary touch that enhances both the flow and visual appeal of the interior.
OUTCOME
The result is a contemporary, multi-functional space that brings the family together, adds long-term value, and adapts as the children grow—all while maintaining a strong connection to the outdoors.
